Interactive Wall | Digital Installation

A large-scale interactive wall installed in a corridor leading to meeting rooms at TIAA's Charlotte campus, designed to communicate the company's history, values, and investment services through spatial storytelling.

Role

Led UX design, interactive layout, and illustration development across a 40-foot installation, integrating physical graphics with projected interactive elements.

Approach

Designed the experience for a transitional space where users engage while walking toward meetings, with an average dwell time of approximately 1 to 1.5 minutes.

Focused on structuring information for quick comprehension and engagement within this limited timeframe.

Carefully integrated printed illustrations (physical scale) with projection mapping (pixel-based), addressing differences in resolution and medium through prototyping and full-scale testing.

Outcome

Created a cohesive storytelling experience that supports client conversations prior to meetings.

The installation was well received and considered for expansion to additional locations.

First wall introducing TIAA's history and core business.

Second wall highlighting how TIAA supports industries and communities through investment initiatives.

Third wall exploring TIAA's vision and initiatives focused on addressing social inequality across multiple sectors.

Layout created based on measurements of the actual installation wall.

Several illustration styles were explored before selecting a minimal, abstract direction aligned with TIAA's latest brand guidelines.

Early-stage projection testing used to evaluate legibility, scale, and information density at full size before production.
