Roseville Utility Exploration Center | Digital Installation
Interactive exhibits for a public facility in Roseville, designed to communicate city infrastructure systems to local residents, including children.
The centerpiece of the exhibition — a projection table. A 3D-sculpted tabletop modeled after the entire city has the city's infrastructure network projected onto it.
A section of the exhibition floor dedicated to waste management and recycling. A large touchscreen table is installed on the left side of the space.
Roseville manages its water supply from underground aquifers, adjusting the flow between wet and dry seasons. In this exhibit, turning the handle on the pipe physically changes the water flow inside.
Users split into teams on each side of the table, picking out recyclables from a stream of passing trash and dropping them into the right bins. Points are tallied based on how much you sort within the time limit.
An exhibit that visualizes everyday energy and water savings. Actions taken on the house model on the right are reflected in real time on the screen to the left.
An educational game about power grid infrastructure. Several scenarios of varying difficulty are shown on a wall-mounted screen, and users race against the clock to map out the most efficient route for delivering electricity from the power plant to the whole city.
